Constable (GD) in BSF.

Constable forms the major component of the BSF. The working of the force mainly depends on the capability and effectiveness of the personnel, having the right aptitude, capability and fitness in all respects. The recruitment of constable (GD) is an important process and it is necessary to lay down certain guidelines.

 

 

1.Classification of post:- -
A. Classification of post is general central service group 'C' not gazetted/non ministerial and combatised.
B. Method of recruitment/ filling up of these posts will be by way of.

  1. Direct Recruitment
  2. Deputation in analogous scale from other CPO/SPO on functional requirement.

 

2.Eligibility for appointment as Constable (GD) -
For appointment to the post of constable (GD) in BSF, male candidate must meet the following eligibility conditions.
  1. Between 19 to 23 as on last date of the submission of application.
    Relaxation: - relaxation in upper age for SC/ST/OBC/Ex-serviceman.
    Category Relaxation
    SC/ST 5 years.
    OBC      3 years.
    Ex serviceman present age of the candidate minus army service minus 3 years should not exceed 23 years.
  2. Educational - Matriculation. (10th).
  3. Physical Standard:-
    Category Height Chest    Weight
    Normal Standard. 170 cm. 80-85 proportionate to height and age.
    For ST of some states and UTs including Nagas/ Mizos. 162.5 cm. 76 - 81 cm. proportionate to height and age
    Men belonging to hill area of Garhwal, Kumoun, Himanchal Pradesh, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkim, Leh and Ladakkh, Kashmir Valley, and North east 165 cm. 78-83 cm. proportionate to height and age.
  4. Medical Standard:-
    Eye sight - max distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 for both eyes without wearing glass.
    Candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint eye and no color blindness. Should be mentally sound and healthy.
    Compassionate appointment (for Constable and class IVth).

 

Method of Selection. :-

The selection procedure for the post of constable (GD) is completed in Six steps.

 Preliminary screening / physical measurement.
 Document checking.
Physical efficiency test (PET)
 1 mile Run, high Jump, long Jump.
 Written Test (Literacy and Intelligence).
 Medical examination.
 Merit list.

 

There are extra 10 marks for NCC/Sports/Cultural/Technical qualification.
